MENU OF SERVICES
’Braking’ News – Announcements from our clinic, and news from the general Tourette Syndrome community, can be found by visiting the Brake Shop – ‘Braking’ News page.
Resource Documents – A number of downloadable resources for children with tic disorders and associated conditions are available from the Brake Shop. For more information about these resource handouts you can visit the Brake Shop - Resource Documents page.
Strategy Documents - Various strategy documents are also available for download as part of the Brake Shop. You can access these strategy handouts by visiting the Brake Shop - Strategy Documents page.
Education - There are several community education options within the Brake Shop Clinic to provide education and address different target audiences. Each has its own page to visit. These opportunities include:
§ 'Leaky Brakes 101' (a free public course)
§ Community Presentations
§ Peer In-Services for students
§ Training Workshops for mental health professionals.
For more information about these opportunities, or to access booking forms, flyers, outlines, slides, and audio podcasts please visit these pages.
Frequently Asked Questions – Receive a ‘virtual consult’ here – no waiting lists here! Find answers to frequently asked questions from past consultation appointments, by visiting the Brake Shop - Frequently Asked Questions page. Maybe you will even save yourself a visit to the clinic!
Referrals – Find out if a Brake Shop referral is right for you and, if so, what kind of referral is appropriate by visiting the Brake Shop – Referrals page.
Consultation Services – Consultations are another service provided within the Brake Shop. You can access more information about Consultation Services by visiting the Brake Shop - Consultation Services page.
Assessment & Treatment Services - If supports to date have not been sufficient, and if symptoms are complex, refractory to any community treatments, and require intensive care, then visiting our Brake Shop – Assessment Services and Brake Shop – Treatment Services pages may be what you need.
From there you can access four programming-specific pages:
§ Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD
§ Self Management for ‘rage’ and explosive behaviour
§ Social Communications for symptom insight & relationship building
§ Tic Management for tics
You are required to access your local agencies or professionals before being eligible for assessment & treatment services via the Brake Shop. This is the most intensive of Brake Shop services and will likely necessitate multiple visits to our grounds. It is assumed that before selecting this option you have first utilized our less intensive options (i.e. read our literature, attended one of our educational opportunities, reviewed our FAQ's and/or accessed our consultation services).
Research Projects – Help researchers at CPRI and beyond to study ‘leaky brakes’ by participating in a research study! Learn more about current trials underway by visiting the Brake Shop – Research Projects page.
Residents & Practicum Students – Interested in learning from our team as part of your education and training as a mental health professional? Rotations and practicum opportunities are available! Learn more by visiting the Brake Shop – Residents & Practicum Students page.
Outcome Measurements – Give us feedback on our website and services, or download questionnaires to complete when receiving education from us, so that we can work to improve our service to you! Visit the Brake Shop – Outcome Measurements page.
Donations - Express your appreciation for this program and enable it to increase its capacity to help children and youth with Tourette Syndrome & associated disorders by visiting the Brake Shop - Donations page and considering a financial contribution to VOCPRI: a registered charity affiliated with CPRI.
